AI assistant
Ask Emberel in the app about saved Sparks, calendar, tags, and visible memory. MCP is a separate deployed, access-gated service for approved external assistants.
How to reach it
Start a capture-composer entry with ? to ask instead of capture, or open the Ask surface. Type a question or command naturally.
What you can ask
- What's ahead — “what's on my plate today?”, “what's coming up tomorrow?”, “what's on this week?” It counts your reminders, tasks, and calendar events and lists them in order.
- What's overdue — “what did I miss?” surfaces anything past due.
- What to do next — “suggest something to work on” picks a few active Tasks, Note Sparks, or Links.
- Capture by command — “remind me to review the fictional observatory notes at 5pm” saves it on the spot, and warns you if it clashes with something.
- Find things — “find the venue note”, “where's the deposit info?”, or “what is saved with #showcase?” searches stored text and tags with exact counts.
- Open questions — anything else falls through to a grounded answer built from your data.
What it remembers
The assistant can use people, projects, places, preferences, and shorthand saved in Settings → AI & memory. Every entry is visible and can be edited or removed.
Ask is not MCP
Ask is the assistant inside Emberel. MCP lets a separately authorized compatible client call Emberel memory tools. MCP access is available only for the demo/owner account, an approved beta account, an active trial, or an entitled Pro, Power, or Founder subscription. Public-beta signup alone does not grant MCP access.
Grounded in your data — and optional
Memory-specific answers use the relevant Sparks, calendar, and visible memory Emberel supplies. General planning or writing questions may also use the model's general reasoning, so this page does not promise that every output is a quotation from stored data. Prefer to keep AI out of capture and chat? Turn off AI capture & chat in Settings and Emberel falls back to built-in parsing rules. See Your data & privacy.
